Stephen Liu practices in the area of intellectual property, with an emphasis on patent prosecution and trademarks. He is a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and a member of the State Bar of Texas. Throughout his career, he has represented clients ranging in size from multi-national corporations to sole proprietors.
A representative sample of technology areas in which Mr. Liu practices includes upstream oil and gas applications, medical devices, food chemistry, computer hardware and software, networks, electronics, and communications technologies. In addition to his IP practice, Mr. Liu has gained valuable litigation experience while working at a prominent, local law firm.
Mr. Liu received his law degree from Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of the International Law Review and a student attorney in the Civil Clinic representing indigent clients. Prior to law school, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. While enrolled, Mr. Liu also performed graduate-level research in the field cell and tissue engineering and co-authored a technical paper that presented those results. A lifelong learner, Mr. Liu recently obtained a second baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
